The University of Molise has various skills in the forest and environmental sectors and in particular in the fields of forest inventory, forest planning and wood technology, which are developed through the activities of the Department of Biosciences and Territory (DIBt). The Research Centre for the Internal Areas and the Apennines (ArIA), which is located in Campobasso, works on the development and conservation of the Inner Areas with specific reference to rural and forest landscapes, and territorial problems. These activities include the historical, institutional, juridical, economic, and spatial planning finalized to the development of integrated operational models relative to the peculiarities of Italian regional contexts. ArIA is a centre for study, research, and innovation that provides support to both civil society and political and technical bodies of public administrations; it contributes to the definition of governance tools and land policy.
